Calgary zoning districts
A plain-English guide to all 56 residential, commercial and industrial land use districts in the Calgary Land Use Bylaw — the setbacks, height limits, coverage and uses that decide what fits on a lot.
Last reviewed: August 2026
Every parcel in Calgary sits in a land use district (a "zone"), and that district sets the rules for what can be built: how many homes, how tall, how far from each property line, and how much of the lot the building can cover. Pick a district below for its rules, or look up a specific address to see which district applies and what it means for that lot.
